COTTAGE Back from an all to short week at the cottage. I did manage a few gouache illustrations. .
WAXING ENCAUSTIC
I took an encaustic class with Andrea Bird...I'm addicted. I have enough problem staying focused I will have to stop taking classes in new media. Since the class, I got together with a couple of friends and we did some more in my barn.

next piece
Here is my new piece for a new body of work on the fragility of nature. And no, I didn't strip a live tree. Up at my cottage the beaver have cut down several trees that are now rotting, so I shook out the wood dust and I have several tubes to work with. Surprisingly it was easy to sew on mt machine as long as the pieces weren't too thick. It does have a grain though, so horizontal stitching sometimes splits the bark.
Still working on sheer fabric insect wings to go on it. I have entered this piece and the snail armour in the Fibreworks show at the Cambridge Galleries. Cross your fingers.
Next up is a coffee filter cloak and a pop can skull....stay tuned.
